Shaskeen

We are very excited for our first concert, as part of the John McFadden Festival, to have Shaskeen in Newport. The Band was founded over 50 years ago under the leadership of Tom Cussen and are still going strong!  With eight core members, the band has made seventeen records, touring extensively throughout Ireland, the UK, Europe and North America. There are very few bands playing traditional music and song in Ireland today that has the heritage, cultural context, longevity and experience of Shaskeen, A band of skilled musicians with a great variety of tunes and songs with a fierce and collective drive and mighty energy. This is one concert not to miss!
