Irish Sean-Nós Singing – John Mc Fadden Festival

Síle was born and raised in Sraith Ghreadaigh on the banks of an Abhainn Mhór in the Erris Gaeltacht in Co. Mayo. She spent her life as a teacher and was the Principal in Doohooma N.S.
She has a particular interest in sean-nós singing, especially the songs from Erris and the local style of singing. Sile has given many singing workshops over the years at various summer schools including the Joe Mooney Summer School, Drumshanbo, Scoil Acla, Féile na Samhna in Swinford and Féile an Fhómhair in Belmullet. She is currently devoted to sharing the sean-nós tradition with primary school pupils in Erris. Her own family are all competent singers and musicians.
